Tippy is my first personal project. It all started because I was missing working on mobile projects, which are still my passion. I use such utility apps everyday. Tippy came about when I couldn’t find a simple barebones tip calculator app. Anything I found and used had too many bells and whistles or just not built well.
problem
Believe me when I say—I just couldn’t find a s-i-m-p-l-e tip calculator. Anything that I came across had just too many bells and whistles. The idea for this came upon while I used to go for lunch with my friends and colleagues quite often. I just wanted to create something that could tell me or anyone what the amount they were responsible for in matter of seconds.
What it needed to do
I know, I know…that’s rhetorical. It just needed to calculate tip(s) based on the amount and number of people.

I tried a few variations. User base was readily available. I just spoke to my friends and colleagues. When it started getting complicated—I just scaled back and stuck to three simple steps.
